Become a Friend and support Sussex Heritage Trust

A registered charity established in 1977 to preserve, improve and encourage the appreciation of the architectural and natural heritage of Sussex

The work of the Trust includes:

  • Stabilising Old St Helen’s Church, an Ancient Monument in Ore near Hastings
  • Maintaining the Ashcombe Toll House, Kingston near Lewes
  • Offering advice on restoration and repair to owners of listed and period properties
  • Highlighting, surveying and reporting on Buildings at Risk
  • Taking an active interesting in Sussex conservation issues
  • Working with local authorities on heritage projects

The Annual Sussex Heritage Awards

Presented to recognise and reward conservation, good design and encourage traditional skills and excellence in craftsmanship

The eight categories include:

  • Large Scale Residential (5 units and above)
  • Small Scale Residential (up to 5 units)
  • Commercial (including shops, offices and industrial units)
  • Landscape & Gardens (public & private)
  • Public & Community (Museums, schools,cafes)
  • Ecclesiastical Buildings (Churches and consecrated buildings)
  • Building Crafts (Traditional craftsmen and apprentices)
  • Sussex Heritage Person of the Year
